We let North Korea get the bomb, test it, and then test long range delivery mechanisms and we didn’t seem to need to go blow them up. Now I’m not an expert but being able to deliver a working nuclear war head to the West coast of the US seems like a lot more “immediate danger” than “still working on getting pure enough uranium to build and test the first bomb.”
