Let’s say you’ve got a hornets’ nest outside in a tree.

Now you go out and poke the hornets’ nest, run in the house and close seven windows on the far side of the house, and leave three open by the tree.  You’ve kept the house safe by closing those windows, right?

Let’s examine this closely and see if there’s any flaw in that logic.

  1. maybe you should not have poked the hornets’ nest. jus’ saying.
  2. maybe closing the windows on the far side of the house doesn’t do much
  3. angry hornets may in fact now try to fly in the windows you haven’t closed

Now when your kids go into anaphylactic shock after being stung you can say, “hey, I tried to keep ’em safe.”  You are a brave, brave man and America needs more people like you, sir!
